Hearing aid fitting is a two-step process: fitting and verification. When we fit a hearing aid, we use validated scientific methods to calculate exactly how much amplification your ear needs. We take into account different loudness levels, speech frequencies, and your specific hearing loss (Katz et al., 2015). The goal is to create a soundscape that is both comfortable and provides maximum benefit in your everyday life.
Ear canal measurement (REM) is the most reliable way to check a hearing aid. Through a small, thin probe microphone in the ear canal, we measure the actual sound directly at your eardrum. Only then can we see if the sound is actually reaching as far as it should, and can we adjust accordingly.
For us at Audiologiforum, the REM equipment and the large screen on the wall have another function. As an educational tool, it opens up a whole new level of participation, where together we train your brain to find its way back to the sounds. This is where we go from just delivering a product to building a lifelong listening experience together.
